Yasutaka Tsuji is Project Associate Professor at the University of Tokyo. As a historian, he specializes in art and architecture after 1945. He was a visiting scholar at Columbia University, with a Japanese Government Fellowship from the Agency for Cultural Affairs in 2014–2015, and a research fellow of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science in 2014–2016.
His 2021 book, Nibiiro no Sengo: Geijutsu Undō to Tenji Kūkan no Rekishi [Postwar Japan as Dullness: A History of Art Movements and Exhibition Installations] led to numerous publications including “This is Your City: The Pop Future Foretold by Metabolism” in The Urbanism of Metabolism (Routledge, 2022).
He has edited a special issue, ”Visuality and Materiality in Postwar Japan” of Review of Japanese Culture and Society, Vol 32, 2023.
