SYSTEMATIC ENUMERATION OF THE PLANTS COLLECTED

This list is a continuation of the list in the first volume of "The Flora of Eastern Himalaya" published in 1966, and includes the collections by the third and fourth Botanical Expeditions to Eastern Himalaya organized by the University of Tokyo in 1967 and 1969, respectively.

To avoid duplication, species included in the previous volume and data which are nearly the same as before have been generally omitted. On the other hand, corrections in regard to thc earlier records, and some additional data of our earlier expeditions are included in this enumeration.

The names of investigators are given in parentheses at the beginning of each family. The genera and species in a family are arranged in alphabetical order. The specimens cited here are mostly deposited in the Herbarium of the Botanical Department, University of Tokyo (TI), unless otherwise stated. Style and abbrevia-tion are the same as in the previous volume. The collector's names are omitted, but can be ascertained from information given in the itineraries on pages 1-9.

The regions showing the distribution are usually arranged from west to east. For example, 'Kumaon to Bhutan' means that the plant is distributed from Kumaon through Nepal, Darjeeling, and Sikkim east to Bhutan. The word Sikkim is often used in the old wide sense, including the Darjeeling and Kalimpong districts of West Bengal.
