Camera pursues curiosity
clipped passion, Room of Professor Endo

For the exhibition of animal specimens, we have prepared a large number of films. The images in these are quite different from the commentary videos that are common in museums. Not everyone can shoot a movie to describe the site where science occurs. Therefore, I have taken these films with a director who can shoot a true picture of our activities. His name is Takeshi Kitamura. The works of director Kitamura accurately describe my scholarly life at all times.

The films show that the way of a scholar is not necessarily brilliant. At the UMUT Hall of Inspiration, which was the site of many films, the life of scholars should also be shown as not disconnected from heat, pain, smell, and dirtiness. The world where antiseptic solutions must be used, where words are hunted by stricutures, and where you are accountable to demands from above, is forever incompatible with the UMUT Hall of Inspiration. But, when director Takeshi Kitamura tries to capture the truth of the scholar, the film begins to tell the man of enthusiasm to go hungry in knowledge. Then, his film creates the UMUT Hall of Inspiration.

The films will increase with our activities because the camera will continue to follow Room of Professor Endo, which will go on till infinity. The filims of Takeshi Kitamura will pursue the infinite (Hideki Endo)
